Seminarium
Come and see the light when Sheila Galt demonstrates some of the experiments from her laser show developed for children. See how simple optics can turn into silly fun and provide not only knowledge but also a positive attitude to science.
Sheila Galt will demonstrate some of the experiments from her laser show, "Hair-raising Mischief with Laser Light", developed for children visiting Chalmers. Simple optics can turn into silly fun with inverse clouds, milky fireworks and smiley spectacles. Weaving in learning at an appropriate level with active participation of the children provides not only knowledge but also positive attitudes to science. Adding a bit of math, introducing the concept of the equation as a recipie for making a calculation, we measure the width of a strand of hair, donated by a brave child. Come and see the light!
The seminar is organized by Gothenburg Center for Public Learning and Understanding of Science (gcPLUS) and Chalmers Learning Center at the Department of Applied IT.
The seminar is open to the public as well as employees and students. We would appreciate your letting us know if you plan to attend by contacting Debora Perlheden or filling out the form at the bottom of this page.
We will start with coffee and a bun at 15:00 and the seminar will begin at 15:15.
Welcome!
