Students within the IT-section from the Göta Student Union are the initiators behind the IT Mentorship program.
The IT Mentorship Program has arisen from students who are seeking more collaboration with industry in order to better develop personal skills and business awareness. Participating students are nearing the completion of their studies and are interested in communicating with an experienced person from the IT industry.
Markus Feyh, international student at the bachelor program in Software Engineering, started to call the companies in the Gothenburg region. Markus also contacted Jan Smith, director of the IT University network, who thought the mentorship project was a very good idea. The IT University joined as a partner in the project.
Tobias Olausson, the chairman of the IT-section, says that the student union now has a group of ten people who are looking for people from the industry interested in being a mentor. The response has been very positive so far.
All students within IT that want to take part have to sign up for the mentorship program, together with the companies who have shown interest in joining the project. On April 14 there is a kick-off for all the students and mentors within the IT Mentorship Program.
