A hub for collaboration, research and education within the ICT area

IT University is a network with the aim to support research, education and collaboration within IT and communication.

The focus of the network is on interdisciplinary projects and tasks, that involve several departments and faculties. There is also a focus on collaboration between academy, industry and society in ICT-related issues.


  • AI agents can learn to communicate effectively

    [15 Jul 2020] A multi-disciplinary team of researchers from Chalmers and University of Gothenburg has developed a framework to study how language evolves as an effective tool for describing mental concepts. In a new paper, they show that artificial agents can learn how to communicate in an artificial language similar to human language. The results have been published in the scientific journal PLOS ONE.

  • Temporary scholarship for fee-paying students

    [2 Jul 2020] Based on a recognition of the vulnerability of students affected by financial crisis caused by the ongoing pandemic, the University of Gothenburg launches a temporary scholarship programme for our fee-paying students. The scholarship purpose is to support our current students in the transition to the coming academic year 2020/2021.

  • Tanya Singh is appointed "Tech Girl of the Year"

    [12 Jun 2020] The BSc student in informatics at University of Gothenburg, Tanya Singh, has been appointed "Tech Girl of the Year" 2020 by Microsoft Sweden.
