Invitation to workshop: #AI@GU

Workshop

There is a strong societal need for research and education on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The University of Gothenburg would like to contribute its expertise, and to strengthen and develop this area of academic inquiry. Teachers/researchers and PhD-students interested in AI are welcome to attend an internal workshop focused on this task.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGES:
There is a big interest in the workshop - it was fully booked in one day. To make it possible for more people to attend we have changed to a bigger lecture room and the workshop will be held in English. New Location: HDK School of Design and Crafts (more info below)

LOCAL, REGIONAL AND NATIONAL AI COOPERATION
The University of Gothenburg cooperates both locally, regionally and nationally with different actors, in conncection to AI. Amongst others the University is part of a cross disciplinary venture for the development of competence training courses within the field, together with Chalmers and five other higher institutions. The University is also taking part in talks with the national venture AI Data Factory at Lindholmen Science Park, where the main focus is cooperation with research, connected to our own resources.

#AI@GU
At the University of Gothenburg there is research and education connected to AI within differenct disciplinary fields. In order to further contribute to this strengthen and develop this area of academic inquiry, the Vice-Chancellor intends to invest funds to develop interdisciplinary research and education with an emphasis on applications of AI.

This effort will help teachers free up time within their employment framework to develop educational and research projects relevant to the AI area.

Teachers/researchers and PhD-students interested in AI are welcome to attend an internal workshop and to discuss relevant areas. The workshop will be held in English.

AIM:
- To show and strengthen internal cooperation within the field
- To fascilitate the development of educational research projects of relevance for the AI field
- Through these projects contribute to the development and cooperation within the University of research, education and competence training of relevance within the AI field.

Tuesday Augusti 28th at 10-12 am

WHERE:
HDK School of Design and Crafts, Kristinelundsgatan 6-8, Baulan (the big assmebly hall + library) PLEASE NOTE this change of address (in the invitation sent by email there was another address)

PROGRAMME:

- Introduction and background, Fredrika Lagergren Wahlin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, responsible
for issues regarding outreach and cooperation with responsibility for AI at GU

- Research funding within AI, and what kind of support you can get: Grants and Innovation Office

- Short presentations by researchers, as a startingpoint for discussions

- Group discussions, suggestions for cooperation concering research and educational projects

- Summary, next steps
