Invitation to workshop: #AI@GU

News: Jun 12, 2018

There is a strong societal need for research and education on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The University of Gothenburg would like to contribute its expertise, and to strengthen and develop this area of academic inquiry. Teachers/researchers and PhD-students interested in AI are welcome to attend an internal workshop focused on this task.

There has been a big interest in participation in the workshop - it was fully booked in one day. To make it possible for more people to attend we have changed to a bigger lecture room: HDK School of Design and Crafts (more info below). The workshop will also be held in English.

Local, regional and national AI cooperation

The University of Gothenburg cooperates both locally, regionally and nationally with different actors, in conncection to AI. Amongst others the University is part of a cross disciplinary venture for the development of competence training courses within the field, together with Chalmers and five other higher institutions. The University is also taking part in talks with the national venture AI Data Factory at Lindholmen Science Park, where the main focus is cooperation with research, connected to our own resources.

At the University of Gothenburg there is research and education connected to AI within differenct disciplinary fields. In order to further contribute to this strengthen and develop this area of academic inquiry, the Vice-Chancellor intends to invest funds to develop interdisciplinary research and education with an emphasis on applications of AI. This effort will help teachers free up time within their employment framework to develop educational and research projects relevant to the AI area. Which areas are relevant? Come to the workshop to take part in the discussion. English will be the main language during the workshop.
